US/PAKISTAN Women with Disabilities Sports Program – 2015

We are pleased to share the call for recommendations for Women with Disabilities Sports Program in Washington, D.C. This disability sports group will engage

with paraolympians and professional athletes in disability sports during a series of sports clinics and team building activities. Sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair tennis will serve as key sports for these sessions. The delegation will also take part in alternative activities (adaptive rowing and rock climbing, cultural tours, and meetings with disability sports advocates/administrators/trainers). Throughout the exchange, they will interact with American university students and youth. The curriculum will focus on disability rights, the lessons of Title IX, and the leadership skills that come with sports.  PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!! DEADLINE TO Send nominations:

Friday 22 August 2014, US Embassy Pakistan will be selecting approximately 10 to 12 female athletes from different regions of Pakistan to the United States (Washington, D.C. and likely another city TBD) for a program on inclusion and the empowerment of women

To be eligible you MUST be:

 Age: 18-25  “female athletes” we understand that some women with disabilities may not have had an opportunity to play sports formally, and that is not an issue.

Citizen of and Residing in Pakistan:Women from all provinces in Pakistan are strongly encouraged to apply, including women from the rural and/or tribal areas

NOT an alumna of previous exchange programs on Disability
